Ravi Singh to join Aleph as Publishing Director on September 1

Aleph Book Company announced that Ravi Singh will be joining the firm on 1st September 2011 as Publishing Director. He will develop his own list at the company, and will report to its co-founder, David Davidar.

In a career that spans nearly two decades, Singh, whose last job was Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Penguin India, has published scores of renowned authors. Among the star-studded line-up are Ruskin Bond, Vikram Chandra, Upamanyu Chatterjee, Maria Couto, Kiran Desai, Shashi Deshpande, Wendy Doniger, Sonia Faleiro, Patrick French, Amitav Ghosh, Namita Gokhale, Ramachandra Guha, Mohsin Hamid, Yann Martel, Suketu Mehta, Dom Moraes, Devdutt Pattanaik, Jerry Pinto, Arundhati Roy, Vikram Seth, Khushwant Singh, Manjushree Thapa, Shashi Tharoor, Mark Tully and Pavan Varma.

Announcing Ravi Singh’s move to Aleph Book Company, Davidar said, “I’m deeply privileged to be working alongside Ravi. He’s one of the finest publishers and editors I know and will bring to Aleph authors of distinction. Together, I’m confident we can build a company that will set new standards of publishing excellence.”

Singh had this to say: “David’s the gold standard of publishing today. I owe my career to him, as do most of my contemporaries in the industry in the country, and it’s a great honour to work with him again. I haven’t been as excited in years.”
